Whether you’re looking for somewhere to have a family gathering, conference, parish/group holiday, school/youth group residential or a silent retreat The Cathedral of The Isles is the ideal venue. Accommodation is in 2 buildings and is set in eight acres of grounds including lawns, woodland and the Cathedral itself. It has sixteen bedrooms, a mixture of single, double and twin.
The South College houses two reception rooms – the Library and the Common Room. These are both comfortably furnished with easy chairs and a number of upright cushioned chairs. The South College also houses the Refectory and five standard bedrooms.
The North College has eleven bedrooms – five of which are en-suite and one of which has a private lounge. One of the ground floor bedrooms has a separate bathroom equipped for the less able. In order to keep our costs low we have to maximize use of the buildings and there may be another group or individual guests visiting at the same time. If you would like exclusive use of the North College or of both colleges please discuss this with us so that you can book the accommodation you need.
We are proud of our delicious home cooking! Breakfast includes the option of a full cooked breakfast, porridge and a selection of cereals/fruit and fruit juice and has been awarded Visit Scotland ‘Tate our Best‘ award. Tea, coffee, toast and locally produced preserves are in plentiful supply. Lunch is normally a light meal of quiche, a baked potato or similar accompanied by salads, fruit and yoghurt. The evening meal is a 3-course dinner. We also have a vegetarian option available and are happy to cater for special medical diets for those with allergies or intolerances. Please contact us to discuss your needs if this applies. We are a part of the Green Tourism scheme and use Fair Trade and local products wherever possible.
We welcome groups to join us in our services or to organise their own, in consultation with the Warden. The Cathedral has its own liturgical life as well as having a strong musical tradition. On Sundays there is a Eucharist at 11a.m. Morning Prayer is said at 8.30.a.m and Evening Prayer at 5.45p.m. In the summer there is a Concert at 3pm every Sunday. Our Director of Music, Alastair Chisholm, is pleased to help groups in any way when he is available. In order to plan your programme, please liaise with the Warden who is always willing to help and to accommodate your needs as far as possible.
The Studio Gallery is located in the Cathedral Annexe and is available for the use of groups by arrangement with the Warden. It is sometimes possible to organise workshops in the studio for your group. Please ask for information. You can read more about the Studio here
There is a television, CD player, DVD/Blu-ray player, video player, digital projector, overhead projector and screen, flip chart and grand piano in the South College. There is free Wi-Fi throughout both buildings.
