The College was host to a pop-up restaurant on Saturday 25 February which saw the cloisters transformed into the trendiest bistro this side of Glasgow. Local chef James Taberner and his partner Helen transformed the cloisters and served 30 guests with a 5-course meal worthy of the best restaurant. Guests were treated to prosecco and canapés in the college library before taking their seats for courses of stilton & broccoli soup and a Scottish ploughman’s starter consisting scotch egg, pork belly terrine, mull cheddar and crocodeli piccalilli. This was followed by pan-fried cod served in a langoustine bisque with Cumbrae mussels or 30-day extra mature steak and then a trio of deserts (lemon cheesecake, Eton mess and warm chocolate brownie). Guests were then treated to freshly pressed coffee back by the fireside in the library. A wonderfully creative and delicious evening!
James, Helen and their team will be returning to the Cathedral & College so we recommend keeping your eyes peeled, or following James’s Crocodile Chippy facebook page here for future announcements.
